New Crisis On Infinite Earths Image Reveals the Anti-Monitor

The CW’s Crisis On Infinite Earths has already added plenty of characters to its ranks, including current series stars and returning guests. But now, Entertainment Weekly has given us our first look at a game-changing character for the crossover: the Anti-Monitor! You can check out the new image via Instagram below.

LaMonica Garrett will return as the dark reflection of the character he debuted during the Elseworlds event last year. Game of Thrones fans will have to admit that he definitely gives off a Night King vibe, enhanced by his powerful armor and deep, menacing stare. Garrett will pull double duty for the crossover by also reprising his role as the Monitor.

Anti-Monitor played a major role in Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s original Crisis On Infinite Earths miniseries. He serves as the “negative” to Monitor’s “positive,” both of which have been around since the multiverse’s beginning. They were dormant for millions of years following a vicious fight. However, experiments conducted by Pariah (played by Tom Cavanagh in the crossover) wakes them up.

Anti-Monitor doesn’t take long to get back to his crooked ways. He begins absorbing positive matter universes, which of course poses a dangerous threat to Earth. In the comics, the Monitor teams up with heroes and villains alike in order to stop him. It seems likely that the five-episode TV event will follow suit.

The CW has already teased the Anti-Monitor’s upcoming appearance on last night’s episodes of Arrow and The Flash. On Arrow, Oliver Queen and company witness the decimation of Earth-2, caused by an anti-matter wave possibly generated by the Anti-Monitor. Meanwhile, on The Flash, Barry Allen comes across an anti-matter barrier in the midst of his time travel run.

Crisis On Infinite Earths will premiere on December 8 with Supergirl. Two more episodes will follow on December 9 and 10 with Batwoman and The Flash. From there, the series concludes on January 14 with new episodes of Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
