There was a time when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the bridge between Marvel’s TV shows and movies. But with the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series, including the newly announced Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight, that’s just not the case anymore. However, that doesn’t mean the agents don’t have one more run on ABC before retiring to the Valhalla of Disney+.
At D23, Marvel TV and ABC dropped the first teaser trailer for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 7. The action picks up in 1931, as three Chromicon hunters introduce themselves to a trio of corrupt cops. Unfortunately for the cops, the Chromicons just need their faces…and the rest is disposable. The invasion has begun, and it’s up to the S.H.I.E.L.D. team to save the world one last time.

A few familiar faces are glimpsed in the remainder of the trailer, which suggests that the team’s time hopping days are far from over. There’s also a rumor that Hayley Atwell may reprise her role as Agent Peggy Carter this season. Atwell previously made a cameo appearance as Peggy on the show before headlining her own Agent Carter series for two seasons on ABC.
The final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will hit ABC in summer 2020. Whether any of these characters will resurface in the MCU afterwards remains to be seen.
