In addition to announcing their upcoming film slate, Marvel Studios made waves at Comic-Conwhen they formally unveiled their TV projects for Disney+. First up is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which features Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprising their MCU roles. However, the series will include another familiar face when it premieres in the fall of 2020. Daniel Brühl’s Helmut Zemo, last seen in Captain America: Civil War, is coming back to get his revenge. And he’ll be sporting a new look that’s guaranteed to make a lot of comic book fans very happy.
Mackie, Stan, and Kevin Feige teased the series on Saturday with footage that confirmed Zemo’s return. More specifically, Zemo was seen donning the purple mask that he wears in the comics. This footage was obviously for Hall H attendees’ eyes only. But thankfully, that hasn’t stopped Brühl from sharing a pair of screencaps on Instagram. You can check them out for yourself below.

Given how secretive Marvel usually is about their productions, it’s surprising that Brühl is sharing these images so early. Sure, the photo of Zemo’s mask is rather distorted. But it’s crisp enough for viewers to get a decent idea of what he’ll look like on the show. Besides, the real question is what his plans are for the titular heroes. In Civil War, he sought to create a rift between the Avengers in retaliation for his family’s death in Age of Ultron. Now that the Avengers as we knew them are no more, what’s driving Zemo’s villainy this time around?
