Game of Thrones Prequel Pilot Adds Five Series Regulars

HBO is fleshing out the cast of its upcoming Game of Thrones prequel with five new additions who will inhabit Westeros’ buoyant past. Via Deadline, John Simm, Marquis Rodriguez, Richard McCabe, John Heffernan, and Dixie Egerickx will star in the pilot episode for the potential series. They join an already stacked lineup that includes the likes of Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, and Miranda Richardson.

Simm (pictured above) is perhaps best known for his starring role in Life on Mars. He also had a recurring role on BBC’s Doctor Who as The Master, the archenemy of the Docter. His other TV credits include Cold Courage, Intruders, and Collateral. Simm is also an accomplished stage actor, and he will the title character in a fall production of Macbeth at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

Previously, he made recurring appearances as Darryl on episodes of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Rodriguez also had minor roles on Netflix’s The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) as well as NBC’s Chicago Fire and Manifest.

Richard McCabe

McCabe starred opposite Simm on Netflix’s Collateral and appeared in a 2017 episode of Amazon Prime’s Electric Dreams. He also played Winston Churchill on two episodes of Peaky Blinders in 2014. On the film side, he has shown up in Goodbye Christopher Robin, The Constant Gardener, and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

John Heffernan

Heffernan will next appear in Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss’ upcoming Dracula series, though his role is currently unknown. He also recently starred alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in the HBO film Brexit as political strategist Matthew Elliott.

At 13 years old, Egerickx doesn’t have a lot of screen credits to her name. However, she did have memorable roles in The Little Stranger and on National Geographic’s Genius series. Next year, she will co-star in the latest adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden.
