After much anticipation, Venom 3 has finally received a digital release date. Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom: The Last Dance first hit theaters on October 25, 2024. Since then, the movie has experienced a lukewarm reception at the box office and is reportedly on track to finish as the lowest-grossing entry in the Tom Hardy-led trilogy. This could have contributed to the film receiving an earlier streaming debut.
Venom: The Last Dance gets December 10 digital release
As confirmed by a recent reveal, Venom: The Last Dance will have a December 10 release date for its digital premiere.
Renowned entertainment news podcast The Hollywood Handle announced the news earlier today via a post on their X (formerly Twitter) profile. According to the update, Venom 3 will become available to watch as a digital release less than two months after its theatrical release date. The movie is currently available for pre-order on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, and VUDU.
While the relatively early confirmation of a digital release date has surprised many fans, Venom: The Last Dance’s financial performance has indicated that an early digital release could happen. The movie has earned $138.2 million at the domestic box office and $330.3 million internationally so far, bringing its current worldwide box office collection to $468.5 million. Considering the project’s $110 million budget, excluding prints and advertising costs, Venom 3 has underperformed compared to its predecessors.
The film originally opened to middling reviews from critics, recording a subpar debut on websites such as Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. However, Venom 3 seems to have fared considerably better with fans, as it currently holds an impressive 81% audience score, as compared to its 41% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Tom Hardy bid farewell to the titular character in Venom 3. The movie’s star-studded cast also includes the likes of Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Stephen Graham, among others.
