Rumor: Henry Cavill in Talks for Star Wars Role

Henry Cavill may become the latest actor to jump between the worlds of DC and Star Wars.

According to scooper My Time to Shine Hello, Cavill has met with Lucasfilm about a potential role in the Star Wars galaxy. The rumor comes just over a week after it was announced that Lucasfilm will develop a new Star Wars movie trilogy with Simon Kinberg — co-creator of Star Wars Rebels — tapped to write and produce. At this time, it is unclear if Cavill is being eyed for a starring role in the new Star Wars trilogy or one of the many other projects currently in development at Lucasfilm.

Henry Cavill could appear in any number of upcoming Star Wars projects

There are close to a dozen Star Wars movies in development at Lucasfilm. This does not include Jon Favreau‘s The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is in post-production. Besides Kinberg’s new trilogy, filmmakers Shawn Levy, Taika Waititi, Rian Johnson, and Patty Jenkins are all attached to write and/or direct their own Star Wars movie. Donald Glover is also co-writing a Lando Calrissian solo movie that he intends to star in, reprising the role of a young Lando from 2018’s Solo, while Daisy Ridley is set to return as Rey Skywalker in an untitled movie set 15 years after the events of 2019’s Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

James Mangold is writing and directing a Star Wars movie that will explore the origins of the Force, set roughly 25,000 years before the events of the original 1977 movie. Finally, Dave Filoni will write and direct an epic crossover movie set in the New Republic era that will bring together the casts of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew. With all those projects in various stages of development, Cavill could realistically have met for a role in any of them.
