Marvel Celebrates 85th Anniversary With New Thunderbolts, Red Hulk & Ironheart Footage

Marvel turns 85 this year and to commemorate the occasion, Marvel Studios released the first official footage of the members of Thunderbolts, Daredevil (Charlie Cox) from Daredevil: Born Again, President Ross (Harrison Ford) as the Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World, and Ironheart (Dominique Thorne). However, the video clip has since been deleted.

Marvel releases first footage for Daredevil, Thunderbolts, and more

Marvel posted footage offering the first look at the Thunderbolts, Daredevil, Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk, and a flying Riri Williams / Ironheart on X (formerly, Twitter), only to delete it later. But by then, the video and screenshots of it had spread all over the internet.

Celebrating Marvel’s 85th anniversary, the video paid homage to some of the biggest stalwarts of the company: Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko. A younger Kevin Feige appears on screen and speaks about the famous Marvel bullpen, calling it a “House of Ideas.”

The video also features a brief interview with Tom Hiddleston, who refers to Marvel as a “massive canvas through which all of our humanity is explored.” Angela Bassett is in the video as well. “The storytelling reaches to the heart of various age ranges and cultures,” she says.

The video underscores the impact Marvel has on the younger audience. Footage from various Marvel movies and TV shows, including those that are yet to come out, flash by. There are brief glimpses of Daredevil and Ironheart. We also see most of the Thunderbolts team — Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker / U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell) — as an elevator door opens. The footage ends as the Red Hulk roars following his transformation.

Some fans will likely recognize the elevator scene in the footage from the purported leaked trailer of Thunderbolts. Given that the footage can no longer be found on any of Disney’s official media platforms, it seems the studio thinks that it’s not yet the right time to release it.
