This weekend, Comic-Con is returning to San Diego for a much smaller convention. There hasn’t been a full scale San Diego Comic-Con since 2019. However, Comic-Con and its sister show, WonderCon, are back on the schedule for next year. Via CBR, the WonderCon and San Diego Comic-Con 2022 dates have been revealed. WonderCon will be back in Anaheim, CA from April 1,-3, 2022. In turn, San Diego Comic-Con will return to its traditional summer time slot from July 21-24, 2022.
SDCC Unofficial Blog broke the news and posted a screenshot of the dates from Comic-Con International’s site. CCI pulled the announcement shortly thereafter, but the official reveal will likely be made during Comic-Con Special Edition.
We’ve all known this for months, but CCI posted the dates and then quietly removed them from their website — but it’s officially official (again). Next year’s #SDCC and #WonderCon 2022 dates: pic.twitter.com/sYmUci1PUN

Both WonderCon and San Diego Comic-Con are among the biggest conventions of the year for comics, TV, film, and video game fans. However, Comic-Con Special Edition is a very stripped down affair that won’t match either show in terms of scale. It’s also an open question whether major studios will flock back to WonderCon and Comic-Con after successfully staging virtual conventions of their own.
Comic-Con Special Edition starts tomorrow, November 26, and will go through November 28.
