G.I. Joe fans have seen Snake Eyes onscreen before. However, it looks like Paramount’s upcoming spinoff featuring the character will explore his relationship with his family. According to Deadline, Steven Allerick is the latest addition to the movie’s cast. He will appear as Snake Eyes’ father in the new film.
Allerick has a recurring role on The Expanse, which will premiere its fourth season on Amazon later this month. He has also had bit parts on several other notable sci-fi TV shows. Some of his credits include Westworld, Fear the Walking Dead, Extant, and Star Trek: Enterprise.

Snake Eyes’ family history has been lightly touched upon in G.I. Joe comics over the years. In the original comics, he was particularly close with his twin sister. In fact, he carried a picture of her with him while serving in Vietnam, believing it was a good luck charm. Unfortunately, she and their parents were killed in a car accident. Upon learning this from Colonel Hawk, Snake Eyes traveled to Japan. He then began learning the ways of the ninja alongside his future nemesis, Storm Shadow.
Robert Schwentke is directing the Snake Eyes film with Henry Golding headlining as the title character. The movie also stars Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Ursula Corbero as The Baroness, Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, and Iko Uwais as the Hard Master. Production began in Vancouver back in October. The film will also shoot a few scenes in Japan.
Snake Eyes will open in theaters on October 16, 2020.
