Doug Liman is no stranger to helming sci-fi-flavored action films featuring superpowered characters. However, he just lined up his first “proper” superhero project. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Liman will direct episodes of Crazy Talented, an upcoming super hero series on Quibi.
Crazy Talented is based on a short story written by Steven Gould, whose novel Jumper served as the basis for Liman’s 2008 film of the same name. Alphas writer Michael Karnow will pen the series and Liman will produce it through his 30 Ninjas banner. Julina Tatlock and Jed Weintrob will also produce the show.

“The world’s most powerful superheroes are trying to stop the world’s most devastating threat — alien weapons falling into the wrong hands and obliterating life as we know it,” reads the series’ official description. “At least that’s what they’ve been told. In Crazy Talented, patients on a psych ward are convinced by a charismatic leader that their defects are actually extraordinary ‘talents.’ He’s clearly out of his mind. But just because it’s crazy doesn’t mean it isn’t true.”
Liman’s most recent film, American Made, starred Tom Cruise and hit theaters in 2017. He’s also known for directing Edge of Tomorrow, Jumper, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and The Bourne Identity. Aside from Crazy Talented, Liman has quite a few additional projects lined up for the future. He’s currently developing an Edge of Tomorrow sequel and an adaptation of the Chaos Walking series of young-adult sci-fi novels. Liman was also previously attached to direct DC’s Justice League Dark film and Gambit for 20th Century Fox.
Crazy Talented is currently without a release date. Will you be checking out the series when it debuts? Let us know in the comment section below!
