Aquaman movie re-hires Will Beall as sole screenwriter
It looks like DC Films is still finding its footing after the post-Batman v Superman fallout, with Heat Vision reporting that yet another major reshuffle has occurred on Warner Bros.‘ upcoming Aquaman movie, although this time instead of a creative getting ousted they’ve been rehired.

Screenwriter Will Beall (Gangster Squad, “Castle”) was one of two scribes hired by Warners in 2014 to pen drafts for Aquaman in parallel development, the other being Zack Snyder collaborator Kurt Johnstad (300, 300: Rise of an Empire). Once director James Wan came onboard in 2015, he brought in his own The Conjuring 2 writer David Leslie Johnson, but now it seems that all three of those original tracks have been scrapped in favor of a new story cooked up by Wan and DC impresario Geoff Johns, to be executed by Beall.
This will not be Beall’s first rodeo with DC either, as he was originally hired to draft a Justice League film prior to Man of Steel‘s release, but was taken off that project in 2013. Still, the powers that be must have some faith in Beall’s ability to keep bringing him back on to the DC Expanded Universe. In the meantime, he recently wrote and produced the “Training Day” pilot for CBS, which has been picked up for series.
The underwater film will star Jason Mamoa as the title hero, with Amber Heard set to play his wife Mera (Queen of Atlantis) and Willem Dafoe as his advisor Vulko, both latter characters making their debut in the upcoming Justice League movie.
Aquaman is set for release July 27, 2018.
