Wolverine 3 will showcase Logan’s “Berserker Rage” says Hugh Jackman
Though Patrick Stewart recently confirmed that he will be “making more than an appearance” in the upcoming Wolverine 3, there is still very little known about the project.
Speaking on the Sydney Confidential podcast (via CBM), Jackman opened up about the film with a nice tease for what to expect and something that fans have been demanding to see.
“There were a lot of calls for Victor Creed to come back, there was… I must admit I was quite heartened by a number of people saying please don’t make it the last, but I’m really excited about this last one, and if you’re a comic book fan, then the words ‘berserker rage’ came up a lot, so if you know Wolverine, you’ll understand.”
Victor Creed, AKA Sabretooth, was previously played by Tyler Mane in the original X-Men, and Liev Schreiber in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with no other appearances in the other films in the franchise.
Perhaps the closest fans have ever come to seeing Logan’s berserker rage on film was in the 2009 solo feature, after his skeleton is fused with Adamantium and he escapes the Weapon X facility. Since Jackman has already confirmed countless times that this will be his last turn at bat as Wolverine, the actor seems eager to give fans everything they’ve wanted from everyone’s favorite Canadian mutant.
To be directed by James Mangold (who, in addition to helming The Wolverine, worked with Jackman on Kate & Leopold), the new film is penned by David James Kelly. It will arrive in theaters on March 3, 2017, following the 2016 X-Men universe films Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse and Gambit, arriving February 15, May 27 and October 7, respectively.
