Harry Potter Returns in a New Short Story from J.K. Rowling!

For the first time since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hit store shelves seven years ago, J.K. Rowling has offered an update on “The Boy Who Lived.” A new Pottermore post went up today and, while it’s written from the perspective of “The Daily Prophet” gossip columnist Rita Skeeter, the new post takes a look at the adult Potter, his wife, Ginny, and his friends, Ron and Hermione as they attend the 2014 Quidditch World Cup Finals.

Although this is the first time that Rowling has returned to the Potter character, she hasn’t strayed far from the universe she created. She is currently involved with the new big screen trilogy, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Set in the wizarding world, the story will feature magical creatures and characters, some of which will be familiar to devoted Harry Potter fans. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.

In the new article, Rowling teases that Skeeter will have a new book, Dumbledore’s Army: The Dark Side of the Demob, released on July 31 (Harry’s birthday). Check back for updates as to whether or not we’ll be hearing more about Harry Potter by month’s end.
