No, Danny Ramirez Isn’t in Thunderbolts* Despite Initial Report

It appears that Danny Ramirez won’t be in Marvel StudiosThunderbolts*.

Ramirez plays Joaquin Torres/Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the character having made his official MCU debut in 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Ramirez will reprise the role in Captain America: Brave New World, which will be released in February 2025.

A recently published article from Variety originally stated that Ramirez would also star in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, which will be released approximately three months after Captain America: Brave New World.

“I suggest that [Lewis] Pullman talk to Ramirez, who is also in Thunderbolts, about replacing Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Haynes’ untitled queer drama,” the initial version of Variety’s article reads.

“Who is also in Thunderbolts” was removed from Variety’s story approximately 30 minutes after it was published, thus suggesting that the initial report was false.

Who will be starring in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* movie?

Pullman, however, will appear in Thunderbolts* alongside Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts* will be released in United States theaters on May 2, 2025. Kevin Feige has previously said that the asterisk, which is an official part of the title, will be explained at a later date.

Captain America: Brave New World, meanwhile, also stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voelker/Sidewinder, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, Tim Blake Nelson/Leader, Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross/Red Hulk, and more. It will be released in United States theaters on February 14, 2025.
