It seems so weird to think that back in 1986, there was barely any Beetlejuice merchandise. No company wanted to bet big bucks that the director of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure would have a monster hit in a bizarre, half stop-motion ghost story. Yet it was, getting the director a shot at Batman, and the rest is history. Meanwhile, the ‘juice has been unloosed in multiple forms of merchandise, from toys to clothing.
Call It a Comeback
Now that there’s an actual sequel almost thirty years later, nobody’s sleeping on the ghost with the most. Some of them are slow — we probably won’t see most of the merch until early next year. Still, that makes it no less cool, and Hot Toys has given their Betelgeuse figure a modern makeover, reflecting Michael Keaton’s age and new makeup.
here’s the official description, “the figure features a newly developed Beetlejuice head sculpt that comes with separate rolling eyeballs system. An additional head sculpt is also included for an eye-popping expression with his tongue out. Both head sculpts are faithfully styled with wool hair material, and his iconic costume is also finely tailored to recreate his black and white striped suit with weathering effect, accompanied by a pair of red socks to finish his iconic look. Attention to detail does not end here”
It continues, “The Afterlife newspaper and Handbook for the Recently Deceased are included, as well as a heart, a watch, a bracelet, a microphone, a nail file, not to mention different interchangeable hands with discolored nails. The sixth-scale figure also comes with a diorama figure base depicting his tombstone.” This may be the ghost with the most accessories, and his preorder price tag is $330. Payment plans are available; the second half of next year is when delivery can be expected.
