Rebel Moon Part 2 Trailer Previews Zack Snyder Netflix Sequel

Rebel Moon Director’s Cuts Update Given by Zack Snyder

Zack Snyder has revealed more about his director’s cuts of both Rebel Moon films, including when both might be coming out.

Speaking to I Minutemen, Snyder said that the director’s cuts to both Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire and Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver are on the horizon, and would likely release together on the same date.

“Those will come out, probably, on the same day – later,” Snyder said. “We don’t have a date yet, but I think it’s going to be in the summer. They’re each about an hour longer than the originals, the PG-13 [versions]. So it’ll be nice to see the six hours together. You can take a break, of course. It’s a more, maybe, immersive experience. I’m interested for people to see it that way. It’s very adult, it’s very R-rated.”

Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is set to release on April 19, 2024, so fans will have to wait until at least later in the year to see the additional footage Snyder cut out of the original, PG-13 version of the films.

What is Rebel Moon about?

The first installment of Snyder’s action sci-fi franchise for Netflix is set to be called Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, which will be available for streaming on December 22, 2023. Meanwhile, the second installment is expected to be titled Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, which is eyeing a 2024 release.

“A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius,” reads the film’s synopsis. “The desperate civilians dispatch Kora, a young woman who has a mysterious past, to seek out warriors from nearby planets to help them challenge the regent.”

Rebel Moon stars Sofia Boutella as Kora, Ed Skrein as Admiral Atticus Noble, Charlie Hunnam as Kai, Michiel Huisman as Gunnar, Djimon Hounsou as General, Staz Nair as Tarak, Doona Bae as Nemesis, Ray Fisher as Darrian Bloodaxe, and newcomer E. Duffy as Milius, with Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins as the voice of an ancient robot knight named Jimmy.

Described as a fantasy epic, Rebel Moon is being directed by Snyder from a screenplay he is co-writing with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, based on a story by Snyder and Johnstad. It is produced by Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Zack Snyder for The Stone Quarry, along with Grand Electric’s Eric Newman. Sarah Bowen is executive producing for Grand Electric.
