The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Sets Initial Voice Cast

Many years before The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers‘ show-stopping Battle of Helm’s Deep, the man after whom the fortress takes its name fought another great battle there. Helm Hammerhand, King of Rohan, defended what was then known as the stronghold of the Hornburg from the Dunlending lord Wulf. These events will be the focus of the animated Lord of the Rings movie The War of the Rohirrim, and now we know the initial voice cast.

As Deadline reports, Miranda Otto returns to the franchise as Eowyn, though since this story is set 183 years before The Two Towers, she’s likely to only serve as narrator. Brian Cox stars as Helm Hammerhand, with Luke Pasqualino as Wulf, and Gaia Wise as Helm’s daughter Hera. The eponymous war gets set in motion when Wulf tries to force a marriage with Hera, leading Helm to kill Wulf’s father, Freca.
