The teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder only offered the briefest glimpse of Natalie Portman’s return as Jane Foster. And Jane will undergo a radical transformation when she becomes the Mighty Thor. Now, Portman has shared some new key art that sets the stage for her long-awaited comeback. Via Instagram, the actress released a new poster that challenges Chris Hemsworth for the title of Marvel’s God of Thunder.
Previously, Marvel Studios released an ‘80s-inspired Love and Thunder poster that showed Hemsworth in a similar pose. Armed with Stormbreaker, Thor appeared standing on top of a mountain with the tagline “The one and only” scrawled above the film’s title. But the new poster makes Portman’s character the star of the show. Instead of Stormbreaker, she holds Mjolnir while perched on that same mountain. The tagline has also been tweaked to say “The one is not the only,” teasing the arrival the new Thor.

Love and Thunder borrows heavily from Jason Aaron’s landmark Thor run, which launched in 2012. In the comics, Jane assumed the mantle of Thor after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Although she was healthy when transformed into Thor, the side effect purged her chemotherapy treatments from her body, which left her near death. Jane was only able to beat the disease after she gave up Mjolnir for good.
We still don’t know how closely the film will mirror the storyline that inspired it. Regardless, this isn’t the only staple of Aaron’s run making its way to the big screen this year. The sequel will also feature the live-action debut of Gorr the God Butcher, as played by Christian Bale.
Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on July 8.
