Return to the Source in The Matrix Resurrections International Poster

In The Matrix Reloaded, the Architect offered Neo a chance to “return to the source” to ensure humanity’s survival in another iteration of the Matrix itself. However, Neo declined and decided to save Trinity’s life instead. Regardless, both Neo and Trinity perished by the end of The Matrix Revolutions. Yet somehow, Neo and Trinity are both back for a new incarnation of the Matrix. And it’s probably not a coincidence that The Matrix Resurrections international poster has a tagline that states “Return to the source.”

Warner Bros. Pictures debuted the new poster earlier today, and Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss’ Neo and Trinity as the only characters on the image. Two decades later, it’s still their story.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is co-headlining the film as a new incarnation of Morpheus. From the original trilogy, Jada Pinkett Smith is reprising her role as Niobe, with Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian and Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson. Additionally, Jessica Henwick co-stars as Bugs, with Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Christina Ricci in supporting roles.

The Matrix Resurrections will debut in theaters and HBO Max on December 22.
