Welcome to Raccoon City Promo Puts the Spotlight on Albert Wesker

Zombies won’t be the threat in the upcoming Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. The latest video for the Resident Evil reboot focuses on Tom Hopper’s Albert Wesker. And as fans of the games already know,  he is far more than a simple STARS member. Regardless, don’t expect Wesker to be a boring one-note bad guy.

“We didn’t want him to be a stereotypical villain, we wanted him to be likable,” said Hopper in the featurette. “We see who really is under the sunglasses. It’s an origin story that brings that version of Wesker. It really does feel like we are making the movie version of the game.”

“We watch this character evolve and become the Wesker that we all know from the games,” added director Johannes Roberts. You can watch the latest Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City video below.

In addition to directing the film, Roberts also wrote the script. Here’s the official synopsis from Sony:

“Returning to the origins of the massively popular Resident Evil franchise, fan and filmmaker Johannes Roberts brings the games to life for a whole new generation of fans. In Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland…with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, a group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.”

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City hits theaters on November 24.
