Venom: Let There Be Carnage Clips Highlight the Sequel’s Villains

The Venom: Let There Be Carnage marketing machine is in full effect. Ahead of the film’s theatrical debut next Friday, Sony has released four new clips from the sequel. Two of these showcase the familiar banter between Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and his symbiotic other half, while the others feature new looks at the film’s villains, Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady and Naomie Harris’ Frances Barrison/Shriek.

In the first clip, we see Eddie having an argument with Venom, which gets so heated that it even causes Hardy’s British accent to make an appearance. Although they have been bonded for a while, Eddie apparently still hasn’t gotten used to the idea of sharing his body with a sentient puddle of alien goo. Especially one that craves human flesh. Unfortunately, airing these grievances seems to do more harm than good…

The second clip highlights an interaction between Eddie and Cletus while the latter is still in prison. As Cletus waits for his execution, he hits Eddie with a series of taunts about his many insecurities, which eventually prompts Venom to lash out from behind the bars.

The third clip takes place in the Ravencroft Institute, when a group of orderlies pay a visit to Shriek. Much like her comic book counterpart, Shriek possesses a sonic scream ability, which requires the hospital staff to wear protective gear before entering her cell. But surprisingly, even high-grade earmuffs have their limits.

Finally, the last clip introduces Stephen Graham as Detective Mulligan. In Marvel’s comic book universe, Patrick Mulligan was originally an NYPD officer before he bonded with his own symbiote and became the antihero known as Toxin. Sony might be setting up Graham’s character for a villainous role in a third Venom installment. At the moment, Mulligan only wants to find Kasday’s victims.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage hits theaters on October 1.
