The Munsters Director Rob Zombie Reveals Herman’s Forehead Prosthetic

Universal’s reboot of The Munsters is deep into pre-production. For the last few weeks, director Rob Zombie has been treating fans to behind-the-scenes looks at the design process on social media. Now, Zombie has shared yet another image that’s bound to get old-school Munsters fans very excited.

Taking to his official Instagram page, the rock star-turned-filmmaker posted a photo of the clay molding for Herman Munster’s colossal forehead. Check it out for yourself below.

Presumably, the molding’s existence means that an actor has been chosen for the role of Herman in the film. It’s been rumored that Jeff Daniel Phillips, who previously worked with Zombie on 3 From Hell and The Lords of Salem, has signed on the play the Munsters’ patriarch in the reboot. However, this still hasn’t been confirmed by the studio. As Zombie explained in his caption, the next step is for the makeup team to sculpt the actual prosthetic for the actor to wear.

Additionally, he revealed an early glimpse at what looks like Lily’s wig. Filming on the reboot is expected to take place in Budapest, Hungary later this year.

Universal hasn’t announced a release date for The Munsters.
