Dwayne Johnson Announces the End of Filming on Black Adam

The wizard Shazam’s original champion is now one step closer to hitting the big screen. Earlier today, Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter to announce that Black Adam has wrapped principal photography after a three-month shoot. Johnson also included a video of himself thanking the film’s cast and crew, along with a caption that describes the experience as the “hardest undertaking” of his career. Check out what else he had to say below.

Johnson also appears in the video dressed in a poncho to avoid giving fans an early glimpse at his Black Adam costume. Earlier this week, the actor shared a back-view image of the costume from the waist up. But even though filming is done, the full suit reveal is still a ways off. And with DC FanDome returning this September, it seems likely that fans will have to wait at least two more months before they can see Johnson’s character in all his live-action glory.

Regardless, there are a few other noteworthy details that are worth pointing out. In the video, Johnson appears to be standing beside actors wearing matching tactical uniforms, which could be our first look at the Intergang mercenaries that Sarah Shahi previously confirmed would be featured in the film. Additionally, the overcast backdrop looks like it’s being projected on a large LED screen, indicating that Black Adam is using the same StageCraft technology made popular by The Mandalorian.

Black Adam will open in theaters on July 29, 2022.
