The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Warner Bros. is returning to the world of animation for its next Mortal Kombat feature. Following the success of Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge in 2020, this studio is gearing up to release a sequel, Battle of the Realms, sometime this summer.
Boasting a star-studded voice cast headlined by Joel McHale as Johnny Cage and Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade, Scorpion’s Revenge earned positive reviews when it was released on home media last year. It also holds the distinction of being the first Mortal Kombat film to receive an R-rating. McHale and Carpenter are both reprising their roles for the sequel. Patrick Seitz (Scorpion), Ikè Amadi (Jax Briggs), and Artt Butler (Shang Tsung) will also return. Plot details are limited. But judging by the title, the characters will be visiting other dimensions from the original video games.
