Aquaman 2 is edging closer to production later this year. And now it’s got an official title. Director James Wan has revealed on Instagram that the sequel will be called Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Wan also shared a brief message from a production meeting: “The tide is rising.”

Jason Momoa will reprise his role as Arthur Curry/Aquaman in the sequel. Amber Heard will also be back as Mera, alongside Patrick Wilson as Orm, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane/Black Manta. However, it’s unclear if either Orm or Black Manta will be the sequel’s primary villain. Pilou Asbaek was also recently cast in a supporting role.
Momoa also had a hand in creating the sequel’s story, before handing it off to James Wan and returning screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. For now, further details are unknown.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
