Bruce and Alfred Have a Fireside Chat in the First Batman: The Long Halloween Clip

“Putting on costumes and striking fear” is kind of Bruce Wayne’s whole thing. Regardless, even the billionaire playboy has his limits. Warner Bros. Animation has just released the first official clip from Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 1, which shows Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth having a quiet All Hallow’s Eve at Wayne Manor

Despite the movie’s title, the night’s festivities (or lack thereof) aren’t the main focus of Bruce and Alfred’s conversation. Instead, they reflect on (what else?) the dismal state of Gotham City. And of course, it wouldn’t be a discussion about the rising criminal element if Bruce didn’t stare longingly at the portrait of his parents hanging above the fireplace. Bruce expresses his misgivings about the state of things. But like always, Alfred steps in to reassure him.

The Long Halloween, Part 1 is the first installment of a two-part adaptation of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s acclaimed comic storyline. The film takes place during Bruce’s early years as the Dark Knight and finds him caught in the middle of a war between rival crime families. Additionally, Batman also has to deal with a new serial killer known only as Holiday. Jensen Ackles headlines the voice cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman, with Alastair Duncan co-starring as Alfred.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 1 will arrive on digital and Blu-ray on June 22. Warner Bros. is also planning to release Part 2 on Blu-ray on August 10.
