Ten years ago, John Boyega had a breakout performance in director Joe Cornish’s Attack the Block. Boyega played Moses, the leader of a British street gang who became Earth’s unlikely defenders during an alien invasion. Future Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker also co-starred in the sci-fi movie. While a sequel once seemed unlikely, Deadline is reporting that Attack the Block 2 is going forward. Additionally, both Boyega and Cornish have signed deals to return.
“It’s been a decade since Attack The Block was released and so much has changed since then,” said Boyega in a statement. “I’m excited to see this heightened story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favourite characters to play and bringing him back is a huge honour.”

“I’m thrilled we’re officially announcing our return to the world of Attack The Block on the tenth anniversary of the film’s release,” added Cornish. “I can’t wait to work alongside John again, bringing audiences an even bigger slice of inner-city alien action.”
Beyond Cornish’s confirmation of the “inner-city alien action,” there are no details about what will happen in the movie. Regardless, the first movie ended with Moses recognized as a hero by his community even as the police led him away. Presumably the sequel will follow up on that.
