DC’s Black Adam Movie Adds James Cusati-Moyer

Dwayne Johnson’s highly anticipated Black Adam film has welcomed a new addition to its cast. According to Deadline, James Cusati-Moyer has booked a role in the movie. Unfortunately, the identity of his character is being kept under wraps for now.

Last year, Cusati-Moyer received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in Jeremy O. Harris’ Slave Play. Most of his other work has been on TV, with guest spots on shows like Prodigal Son and The Path. Cusati-Moyer will also appear in Netflix’s upcoming miniseries Inventing Anna, developed by Shonda Rhimes.

Johnson is headlining Black Adam as the titular antihero. He leads a cast that will also feature the first big screen take on the Justice Society. The roster includes Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Sarah Shahi and Marwan Kenzari have mystery roles in the film as well. Jaume Collet-Sera is directing the movie from a script by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Production is expected to begin this month.

Black Adam was originally going to get underway last year and hit theaters this December. However, the coronavirus pandemic delayed its start date, and Warner Bros. took the film off their release calendar last October. For months, the movie was without a new premiere date. But last week, Johnson announced that Black Adam will finally open on July 29, 2022.
