The Dungeons & Dragons Movie Adds Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page

Directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley have recruited one of the breakout stars of Netflix’s Bridgerton to join their D&D party. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Regé-Jean Page has landed a role in Paramount’s upcoming Dungeons & Dragons reboot. Details are scarce, but Page is apparently playing one of the film’s lead characters.

Page’s star has been steadily on the rise for the past couple of months. Last year, he also had a supporting role in Sylvie’s Love, which was released on Amazon Prime. Previously, he was part of the main cast for ABC’s short-lived legal drama, For the People. That series aired two seasons between 2018 and 2019. Page will soon host his first episode of Saturday Night Live, with musical guest Bad Bunny.

Back in December, Paramount secured its first major bit of Dungeons & Dragons casting with Chris Pine. Two months later, Justice Smith and Michelle Rodriguez came aboard the film as well. In addition to directing the movie, Goldstein and Daley also penned the most recent draft of the screenplay, which retools an earlier version written by Michael Gilio. Paramount is co-producing the film alongside Hasbro/eOne.

In due time, fans will be able to get their D&D fix on more than just the big screen. Last month, word broke that eOne was also developing a Dungeons & Dragons TV series with John Wick creator and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier writer Derek Kolstad tackling the script. The studio is currently holding meetings with other writers to develop even more projects set in the D&D universe.

Dungeons & Dragons will hit theaters on May 27, 2022.
