Director David F. Sandberg originally tried to get Henry Cavill to cameo as Superman in Shazam!. However, Sandberg eventually had to settle for a stuntman in Cavill’s place. This week, fresh rumors emerged that Sandberg would have another chance by putting Cavill in Shazam!: Fury of the Gods, the upcoming sequel. Unfortunately a new report from Variety has shot down those rumors.
According to the report, Cavill may still reprise his role as Superman in another movie. It just won’t be this one. Regardless, Sandberg doesn’t sound like he’s completely ready to give up on Cavill. His subsequent post on Twitter also reiterated that Cavill was still planned for the first movie at the halfway point of production.

Not going to comment on casting rumors for several reasons. One being you can’t be sure about anything until it’s happened. Halfway through shooting Shazam the plan was still for Cavill to be in it. Scoopers could have scooped that and been right at the time but wrong in the end.
