Bryan Edward Hill Will Write eOne and Hasbro’s Power Rangers Reboot

One week after sharing plans to launch a Power Rangers cinematic universe, eOne and Hasbro have found a writer to tackle the first big-screen entry in the new franchise. Deadline is reporting that Bryan Edward Hill will pen the next Power Rangers movie.

Hill has previously worked as a writer and story editor on DC Universe’s Titans as well as Starz’s Ash vs. Evil Dead. Additionally, he has extensive comic book experience as the writer of Batman and the Outsiders, Fallen Angels, and more. Hill recently worked with Marvel on Killmonger, and he also wrote several issues of Detective Comics for DC.

All upcoming Power Rangers projects will be overseen by Jonathan Entwistle, the creator of Netflix’s The End of the F***ing World and I Am Not Okay With This. Last year, Entwistle was hired to develop a Power Rangers reboot when Paramount still held the rights to the characters. But once eOne took over the franchise, Entwistle’s role was expanded. Paramount originally recruited Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway screenwriter Patrick Burleigh to write the script for the reboot. However, this latest news essentially confirms that eOne isn’t moving forward with Burleigh’s draft.

The new Power Rangers universe will encompass films and TV shows. Last week’s announcement didn’t specify whether Entwistle is directing any of these projects himself. Regardless, Deadline’s report suggests that he will in fact helm the next reboot. Unfortunately, neither eOne nor Hasbro has given any clue as to when it might premiere.
