Earlier this year, director Matt Reeves assembled the cast and crew of The Batman for production in London. However, the film shut down after only seven weeks when the coronavirus pandemic shutdown began. Now, a new report from Variety suggests that The Batman may soon begin again.
According to Variety’s sources, The Batman will resume shooting in the United Kingdom in early September. The crew has reportedly already returned and began building sets earlier this month. However, the report notes that ” those plans could be upended and cameras may not roll for several more weeks or even months.”
Variety also notes that Robert Pattinson has remained in London during the shutdown. Pattinson will portray a younger Bruce Wayne/Batman in the film.

Zoë Kravitz co-stars in the film as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/Riddle. Additionally, Commissioner James Gordon will be played by Westworld standout, Jeffrey Wright. John Turturro also appears as Carmine Falcone, a powerful crimelord in Gotham City. Colin Farrell will portray Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot.
The Batman will hit theaters on October 1, 2021.
