Chiwetel Ejiofor is Eager To Work With Sam Raimi In the Doctor Strange Sequel

Prior to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Marvel Studios never quite got around to naming Sam Raimi as the new director of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, Raimi seemingly confirmed the news himself back in April. Now, Chiwetel Ejiofor is confirming his return as Mordo, Strange’s ally turned potential nemesis. Additionally, Ejiofor told ComicBook.com that he’s eager to work with Raimi on the Doctor Strange sequel.

“He’s coming on,” said Ejiofor.”I’m very, very excited about that. Obviously, we’ve been sort of interrupted as the whole world has been in the pandemic but hopefully we are back on track with that and continuing quite soon, so I’m very excited about it.”

Additionally, Ejiofor teased that Mordo’s absence during Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame will be addressed.

“All will be revealed,” noted Ejiofor.

At the end of Doctor Strange, Mordo was alienated by Stephen Strange and the Ancient One’s use of magic. He also broke away from their order and said there were “too many sorcerers” as he stripped a man of his powers.

Benedict Cumberbatch will headline the sequel as Doctor Strange. Elizabeth Olsen will also reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch as the film picks up on threads from WandaVision.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will hit theaters on March 25, 2022.
