Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four Movie is Now on Disney+

Once Disney officially acquired 20th Century Fox, several fans were undoubtedly curious if this meant that any of Fox’s Marvel films would make their way to Disney+. Since the streaming service launched last year, Disney has primarily kept their Marvel movie library in-house. But now, Disney+ has just added the last movie anyone was expecting:  Josh Trank’s ill-fated Fantastic Four reboot.

It’s not clear if this latest development is a sign that more of Fox’s Marvel movies are coming to Disney+. However, this is a highly unusual choice to start things off with. Upon its release in 2015, the film was met with scathing reviews and became one of the year’s biggest box office bombs. Its reception also weighed heavily on Trank’s then-nascent career and caused him to take a five-year break from filmmaking.

In the meantime, Marvel Studios confirmed last summer that it is developing a new Fantastic Four movie set in the MCU. As of right now, that film doesn’t have a writer or a director. But a lot of fans are lobbying for John Krasinski and Emily Blunt to star as Reed Richards and Sue Storm. Fortunately, Trank’s movie isn’t the only way for Disney+ subscribers to get their fill of Marvel’s First Family. Fans can also binge the ‘90s Fantastic Four animated series as well as 2006’s Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes.
