New Line’s upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot has put together an impressive cast in the last few weeks. However, one bit of casting news remains a mystery. Earlier this week, Lewis Tan joined the film as an “undisclosed lead character.” Only time will tell who this is. But until then, Tan has some words of encouragement to offer longtime fans of the franchise.
Tan took to Twitter to express his enthusiasm for the new Mortal Kombat film. Tan noted that he has been “training” for it his entire life. Additionally, Tan acknowledged that there’s a lot riding on his performance.
not let you down.
Excited to bring this to life with this special studio and this legendary story, it is truly a childhood dream manifested. Dedicated to my father and mother, those that never doubted me, and those that did.
To all the fans, this is for you.

He’s certainly not lacking in dedication, but Tan’s missive didn’t exactly provide any clues to the nature of his role. It’s been suggested that Tan might be playing Kung Lao in the reboot, but there are a number of other characters he’d be suitable for. It’s unclear why the studio has had no reservations about disclosing the other casting news while keeping Tan’s role a secret. Regardless, it seems likely that a relevant announcement will be made in the future.
