Last week, director and veteran actor, Andy Serkis reportedly met with Sony about helming Venom 2. While the initial report focused on Serkis, it added that he wasn’t the only director under consideration. However, a recent Instagram post by Venom star Tom Hardy may have confirmed Serkis’ selection.
As reported by Geeks WorldWide, Hardy published a picture of Serkis on his IG account before subsequently deleting it. Thomas Polito posted a screencap of the post on his twitter feed.

A deleted Instagram post is far from confirmation that Serkis will helm Venom 2. However, Donny Cates, the current writer of Marvel’s Venom comic, quickly endorsed Serkis’ selection.
Hell yeah. I’m about that. https://t.co/AStZXJKb3g

Serkis has only directed two feature films to date: Breathe and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, an updated take on The Jungle Book. He’s far more famous for his motion-capture performances in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Planet of the Apes prequel trilogy, King Kong, and more. He also appeared as Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther.
Thus far, only Hardy is confirmed to return for Venom 2. Sony reportedly wants the film to begin production later this year.
