Chris Messina Joins Birds of Prey as Victor Zsasz

Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey is rounding out it’s cast of villains. Following the addition of Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, Deadline is reporting that Chris Messina has joined the cast as Victor Zsasz.

In the comics, Victor Zsasz is a serial killer who carves a mark on himself for every one of his victims. Zsasz was created by Alan Grant Norm Breyfogle in 1992’s Batman: Shadow of the Bat #1. It was eventually revealed that Zsasz came from one of the wealthiest families in Gotham City. However, he became suicidal after the death of his parents. But before he could take his own life, Zsasz discovered the joys of killing and dedicated himself to the art of death. He has also been known to leave his victims in lifelike poses.

Junee Smollett-Bell is headlining the film as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead will co-star as the Huntress, with Margot Robbie returning as Harley Quinn. In addition to the film’s outlandish title, Robbie shared that Birds of Prey will be an R Rated Girl Gang film.

Warner Brothers has set Birds of Prey for a February 7 2020 release date. Production will begin next year.
