One Piece live-action Season 2 is here, and fans are eager to know more about the big revelations that took place in the finale of the first season. The second season, too, changes the narrative significantly to fit the live-action mold. The series has started teasing the Pirate King’s family from a much earlier time than the manga and anime, and this has left fans wondering about Gol D Roger’s son. Is it Luffy or someone else?
Gol D Roger’s son, Portgas D. Ace, in One Piece, explained
While many initially believed that Luffy was the secret son of Gol D Roger, it is not the case. Gol D Roger’s son is Portgas D. Ace, whose safety Roger entrusted to his rival, Monkey D. Garp.
Roger married Portgas D. Rouge, and they had a child, Portgas D. Ace. However, the Marines were constantly on a hunt for him. This prompted Roger to take a tough call. To save his son, he asked his rival, Garp, for a favor. Garp helped Roger because of the mutual respect they had for each other, despite being rivals.
This big reveal happens in the Marineford arc in the anime and manga.
As for the live-action adaptation, Ace is not yet a part of the narrative, and as it stands, Ace will not be a part of the second season of the show.
However, reports state that the character will make his debut in the third season of the live-action adaptation. Reports suggest that Xolo Maridueña, known for his roles in Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle, will take on the role of Ace in the third season. The third season may feature this big twist about Ace’s lineage and a more comprehensive look at his background.
As of now, all the episodes of One Piece Season 2 are streaming on Netflix. The series was already renewed for a third season ahead of the second season’s premiere.
