NECA Announces Two More TMNT Mirage Comics-Based Action Figures

When NECA first started making Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures, their license initially included figures based on the Mirage Comics designs only. They had to tread very carefully around what Playmates would let them do, but in recent years, most restrictions seemed to go out the window. After major successes with toys based on the New Line cinema movies, various video games, and the original animated series, NECA’s come back around to Mirage again. And they just revealed two key characters in TMNT mythology: Casey Jones and an Utrom.

Casey, of course, is a sports-gear obsessed vigilante who befriends the Turtles, played by Elias Koteas and Stephen Amell in live action. The Utrom aliens would eventually evolve to become Krang in the cartoons, though the brain-like creatures in robot bodies are not villains in their initial comic appearance. Here are NECA’s official descriptions of the new figures:

“Casey stands approximately 7″ tall, and includes interchangeable heads and hands, plus hockey mask, golf bag, bats, hockey stick, and golf club!” As for Utrom, “This 7″ scale exoskeleton has a removable Utrom and includes interchangeable heads and hands, blaster, tools, and… is that a sippy cup? Hey, even tentacled aliens have to stay hydrated.” Both come packaged “in all new special comic-book themed window box packaging illustrated by Kevin Eastman.”
