DC and Audible Announce the Voice Cast For The Sandman: Act II

Last year, DC and Audible teamed up for an audio adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman. Regardless of the Audible’s adaptation’s critical acclaim, the upcoming Netflix Sandman series has somewhat stolen its thunder. However, the Sandman Audible series will continue this fall with several notable additions to the voice cast.

Via DC.com, James McAvoy will reprise his role as Dream/Morpheus in The Sandman: Act II. He will also be reunited with The Sandman: Act I cast members Kat Dennings as Death, Michael Sheen as Lucifer, and Andy Serkis as Matthew the Raven. Additionally, Gaiman retains his positions as creative director, co-executive producer and narrator. Dirk Maggs will also return to adapt and direct Act II’s episodes.

Dream and Death’s fellow Endless have also been cast in Act II. Jeffrey Wright will voice Destiny, alongside Miriam Margolyes as Despair, and Kristen Schaal as Delirium. Regé-Jean Page has also joined cast as Orpheus, with Brian Cox as Augustus, Emma Corrin as Thessaly, and Kevin Smith as Merv Pumpkinhead.

Former Doctor Who star David Tennant will also lend his voice to Loki, while Bill Nighy portrays Odin. Other cast members also include John Lithgow as Emperor Joshua Norton, Bebe Neuwirth as Bast, Arthur Darvill as William Shakespeare, and Niamh Walsh as Nuala. Joanna Lumley will also voice Lady Johnanna Constantine, an ancestor of John Constantine. Aidan Turner, Adrian Lester, and Ray Porter have also been cast, but for now their roles are undisclosed. Regardless, that information will almost certainly be announced closer to the release date.

The Sandman: Act II will adapt “Season of Mists,” “A Game of You,” “Distant Mirrors,” and also “Convergence.” Audible has also announced that Act II will be released on September 22.

Gaiman also shared the news on Twitter.
