A New Hope Star Destroyer Now Has the Ultimate LEGO Set

Seems only fitting that one of the largest LEGO sets ever produced be the iconic star cruiser that begins every film in the original Star Wars trilogy. With over 4,700 pieces, and a price tag around $700, the latest Ultimate Collector Series set is the Devastator. It’s the Imperial flagship that captured Princess Leia’s ship to kick off the entire Star Wars franchise. And while it’s not feasible to make it full-scale for minifigs, it comes with a Tantive IV Blockade Runner mini-build for size comparison. The final build is over three and a half feet long, and almost a foot and a half tall.

From the official product description press release:

•This Ultimate Collector Series set has 4,784 pieces.

•Inspire unforgettable Star Wars: A New Hope moments.

•The perfect LEGO® Star Wars™ collectible for fans of the Star Wars saga.

•UCS model on display stand measures over 17” (44cm) high, 43” (110cm) long and 26” (66cm) wide, and over 14” (37cm) high without stand

Although it does come with two minifigs, they’re intended for display. The Star Destroyer does not have interior play areas, there mainly intended to dominate fans’ display shelves and test their building patience skills.

Expect this massive starship to hit LEGO and online stores starting October 1st, so collectors have less than a month to clear some space and funds. You can live without groceries for a month or two, right?
