LEGO SDCC Selfie Boxes for Minifigs Includes Star Wars, Batman, More

The almighty LEGO always runs a crowded booth at Comic-Con, but this year, they’ve come up with a gimmick to guarantee foot traffic. They don’t just offer a free minifig (usually worth about $5). That minifig isn’t just one you can customize any way you like, with a few convention exclusive parts. No, in addition to all of that, LEGO has built the equivalent of a selfie museum, with “brick box” environments you can photograph your free custom figure in. And some of them are quite familiar.

This one might make you feel upside down, for example…

And here’s one that might make you want to make a run for it. A Kessel run, that is.

Unfortunately you can’t take these home. The licensed sets were built by master builders just for the show, while others were solicited from members of the LEGO fan community. Who come up with trippy stuff like this:

If you don’t want a physical figure, you can design a virtual version and print it in a custom comic based on Star Wars, Batman, or Spider-Man.

If you haven’t already secured a place in line to buy LEGO exclusives by now, you probably won’t. But here we have a look at their SDCC minifigs anyway, including Barb from Stranger Things, and two guys who need no introduction.

LEGO’s custom minifig program continues at their booth all day Sunday. Check out our slideshow below to see all the environments fans can place a new character in. Or an existing one brought from home, if the custom line looks too long.
