Batman and Superman have been the flagship superheroes of DC for some time. Even in the Silver Age, they were paired together as the World’s Finest team. They have even been merged into a composite hero on several occasions. However, the aftermath of DC K.O. and the build to DC Next Level have teased a hero who appears to take inspiration from both the Dark Knight and Man of Steel.

The mystery hero first appeared in the climax of DC K.O. #5. As Superman restored reality to what it was before, he spoke of how the DC Universe should be. He saw it as a world of “wild beginnings and new starts.”

Amid the many heroes and villains he saw, there was a mysterious masked figure in a red, blue and gold costume. These are the classic colors associated with Superman. However, this new hero concealed his face and had a chest emblem resembling a bat imposed on a pentagonal shield.

A clearer view was offered in a promotional advertisement for the DC Next Level initiative at the issue’s end. This image showed the mystery hero among various incarnations of Superboy in the bottom right corner. This teases his involvement in the upcoming Reign of the Superboys event and confirms a tie to the Superman family.
Superman ally Tomorrow Man explained
Further promotional material for Reign of the Superboys have identified the mystery hero with the codename Tomorrow Man. He will make his first appearance in Superman Unlimited #11. Beyond that, the issue will also center around the younger Superman, Jon Kent, doing battle with a time-traveling imp from the Fourth Dimension. It seems likely that Tomorrow Man will appear to help Jon in this battle, though there is no clue yet to his identity.

One interesting note is that Tomorrow Man’s costume as depicted on the cover of Superman Unlimited #11 shows his cape is styled to look like flames. His chest emblem on this cover also looks more like that of Nightwing rather than Batman. This suggests that Tomorrow Man could be tied to the legendary Kryptonian vigilantes Flamebird and Nightwing. It may also tease that Tomorrow Man is a future version of Jon Kent, who was mentored by Dick Grayson as much as Clark Kent. In any case, Tomorrow Man will debut in Superman Unlimited #11 on March 18. 2026.
