Marvel’s Powerful Illuminati Member Dies at Hands of Unexpected Villain

The Illuminati was one of the most powerful groups in the comic book Marvel Universe. They are most famous, however, for their adaptation into the MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. A new Marvel crossover just opened with one of the team’s most powerful members dying in an unexpected way thanks to one cunning villain.

Marvel’s Powerful Illuminati Member Dies at Hands of Unexpected Villain

The death occurred in Godzilla: Infinity Roar #1. Written by Gerry Duggan, with art by Javier Garron and Ig Guara, the miniseries is a sequel to last year’s Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe. That event ended with the heroes of Earth shooting Godzilla into space after proving unable to slay him. Unfortunately, the marooned Godzilla was discovered by the symbiote god Knull, who has plans for the King of the Monsters

Those plans are revealed and put into action in Marvel’s Godzilla: Infinity Roar #1. While Knull proved unable to bond himself or his children to Godzilla, he was still able to clothe him in an army of symbiotes. Thus protected, Godzilla was sent to destroy various worlds as part of Knull’s scheme to ultimately destroy all life in the universe. Knull’s first target was Birnin T’Challa — the capital city of the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda established by Black Panther.

What member of Marvel’s Illuminati died fighting Godzilla?

Even the technology of Wakanda was not enough to fight a Godzilla guarded by symbiotes. Thankfully, an ally from the Illuminati arrived in the darkest hour of the Wakandan homeworld. The ally was Black Bolt of the Inhumans, who merest whisper can cause untold devastation.

The unshielded voice of Black Bolt is one of most powerful attacks in Marvel Comics. It not only destroyed the symbiotes, but also proved powerful enough to strip the scaly flesh from Godzilla’s hide. However, it was not enough to put the King of the Monsters down forever. Beyond being near-indestructible, Godzilla also has a healing factor on par with Wolverine.

The strongest shout Black Bolt had ultimately served only to enrage Godzilla. The Inhuman king died shortly afterward, along with what remained of the army of Birnin T’Challa. The few survivors consequently became bonded to Knull’s children and part of his growing army.
