Unsurprisingly, DC Comics has big plans for the Man of Steel in 2025 to build upon the anticipation for the upcoming James Gunn Superman film. The first stage of those plans was revealed with the announcement of a new ongoing comic, Superman Unlimited, by Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque. This, in turn, will set the stage for a Summer of Superman event, with many new ongoing and limited series.
DC has yet to detail precisely how many new books will be published as part of the event. However, new solo series centered around Superboy, Supergirl, and Krypto have been confirmed. The 2025 Free Comic Book Day edition of DC All-In #1 will also include a ten-page preview of Superman Unlimited.

Superman Unlimited a notable series for many reasons
Superman Unlimited boasts an impressive creative team with Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque. The series marks Slott’s first ongoing comic book launch for DC Comics. Slott is best known for his runs on various Marvel Comics series, including Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four. Albuquerque is equally notable, famed for his art on American Vampire, Animal Man, and Batwoman among other series.
The series will open with a massive Kryptonite asteroid threatening the Earth. While the threat is overcome, it still results in the deadly element raining down around the world. This inspires a supervillain arms race, with Intergang reemerging to head the pack. This will lead to new alliances, new tech, and new tactics as Superman and his allies continue the never-ending battle for Truth, Justice, and a Better Tomorrow.
Superman Unlimited will not only empower Superman’s enemies, however. The Daily Planet will also get an upgrade with Editor-In-Chief Lois Lane expanding their operations on a global level. A merger with Morgan Edge’s Galaxy Communications will see the newspaper’s reach grow with a cable news channel, website, and social media. Regular members of the supporting cast, like Ron Thorpe, Cat Grant, Steve Lombard, and Jimmy Olsen will lead a new team of reporters from satellite offices from Gotham City to Coast City. This new team will include Tee-Nah, an IT specialist from Gorilla City, who is the goddaughter of King Solovar.
Superman Unlimited #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on May 21, 2025.
