She was born and bred to be the perfect assassin. She was known as X-23, cloned from the original Wolverine. With the help of her friends, she decided to become something else.
She took the name Laura Kinney. She joined the X-Men and became a hero. Now, she tries to be kind and enjoy the new life she’s built for herself. But sometimes, she cannot be kind. Sometimes the world needs someone to do things that aren’t very nice. At those times she is Laura Kinney: Wolverine. And one of those times is fast approaching.
Written by Erica Schultz, with art by Giada Belviso, Laura Kinney: Wolverine #1 spins out of the pages of NYX. Laura is trying to enjoy a night out with friends, but her old instincts keep her partly out of the moment. Unfortunately, Laura’s tendency to seek out trouble soon puts her on the trail of a Mutant in need of a hero. It is a need she is happy to satisfy, though it will send her halfway around the world to Dubai.

Laura Kinney Wolverine #1 highlights what makes her unique
Many are quick to dismiss Laura Kinney as a Wolverine clone. Indeed, she was presumed to be a literal clone when she was first introduced into comics. However, later stories confirmed that she was the biological daughter of Logan. He has since then accepted her as such, and taken a hand in her training.

Other series have further developed Laura beyond being a distaff counterpart of Logan. While she shares her father’s sense of justice, she has a stronger sense of compassion. However, she can be just as ruthless when the situation calls for it.
Laura Kinney: Wolverine #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on December 11, 2024.
