DC Heroes Role-Playing Game Reprinted as Part of New Kickstarter

Originally published in 1985, the DC Heroes Role-Playing Game was a hit with comic readers and RPG players alike. Despite being out of print for years, the game still has a devout fan following. It was for this reason that Cryptozoic Entertainment, in association with Warner Bros. Discovery, has launched a Kickstarter to reprint this beloved game. This will allow a new generation of gamers the chance to create their own adventures in the world of DC Comics.

There are many reasons why the DC Heroes RPG is still so widely regarded. The chief one is that many professional comic creators provided artwork for the game or had a hand in writing it. Chief among them are Jack Kirby, Dennis O’Neil, John Byrne, George Perez, and Alan Moore, who contributed to a Watchmen supplement for the game.

The campaign is reprinting the entire product line in definitive archival editions. These will be faithful to the content of the originals, with upgraded paper quality and premium binding. This reproduction process is being directed original co-designer Ray Winninger and Jeb Woodard and Creative Apocrypha, Inc. This is the same team responsible for producing the Absolute Sandman and Batman: The Killing Joke Deluxe Edition.

DC Heroes Role-Playing Game Kickstarter offers extra incentives beyond the game

Contributors will have their choice of either the 1st or 2nd edition of the DC Heroes Role-Playing Game. They can also choose one of seven module bundles, collecting various adventures and Who’s Who guidebooks. However, there are other incentives for DC Comics’ completists.

The first two module sets will come with Kickstarter exclusive slipcases. More slipcases will be unlocked as stretch-goals as the drive continues. Players can also pick up a limited edition dice tray shaped like the classic DC Comics logo, a gamemaster screen with Jim Lee art, and a set of bookmarks. Naturally, there are also four sets of collectible dice, with DC, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman themes.

The DC Heroes Role-Playing Game Kickstarter runs through December 18, 2024.
