The DC All-In initiative has been shining a metaphorical spotlight on many of DC Comics‘ more obscure heroes and villains. It seems fitting then that their next series should center around a hero who works on-stage when she isn’t saving the world. To that end, the Mistress of Magic, Zatanna, will star in a limited-engagement six-issue series by writer/artist Jamal Campbell.
“Wonder, mystery, mischief, and fishnets make up the core of a quintessential Zatanna Zatara stage show. And it’s high time she returned to the spotlight,” said Campbell. “In her newest DC Comics series, Zatanna is dragged down a rabbit hole of cursed swords, hidden truths, and multiple brushes with death. She’ll need all her wits and every spell she can muster in order to make it out the other side in one piece.”

Zatanna miniseries centers around her stage crew and new enemy
While most of DC’s heroes are mobilizing in the wake of Absolute Power, Zatanna is seeking to simplify her chaotic life. She reunites with her old creative team, intending to return to performing as a stage magician. Unfortunately, a new ghostly adversary, The Lady White. kidnaps Zee’s crew before the first show. This leads the Mistress of Magic into the dark side of the magic world, contending with tricks and curses at every turn.
“It’s been a dream tackling Zatanna’s world,” continued Campbell. “Introducing brand-new allies and adversaries as well as bringing back some old classics that haven’t been seen in a while. I’m weaving all my appreciation of the character into these pages in order to show and prove what makes Zatanna so magical.”
Zatanna #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on February 19, 2025.
