It’s a big summer for Marvel Comics‘ favorite frenemies, Deadpool & Wolverine, and it just got even bigger. Just in time for the release of their highly anticipated movie, Marvel is running a special backup teamup story featuring Wolverine and Deadpool. This Weapon X-Traction saga has also prompted a series of variant covers, by some of Marvel’s greatest artists.
Written by Ryan North, with art by Javier Garrón, Weapon X-Traction will team Logan and Wade Wilson in a journey across the multiverse. The reluctant allies will face blood-thirsty zombies and gun-wielding librarians. They will also, naturally, fight each other.
“Taking Deadpool and Wolverine across the multiverse as they try to save everything – and not murder each other at the same time – has been a delight,” noted North. “The fact that this story will be appearing across tons of different Marvel comics in 5-page chunks has been a fun challenge too: I love me a formalist comic, and this is like a series of short films that also add up to a feature. I really think it’s something special!”
