Cobra Storms the Streets of Springfield in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #305 First Look

Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics have shared a first look inside G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #305 by Larry Hama, Chris Mooneyham, and Francesco Segala.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #305 hits comic shops in one month. The issue features a main cover by Andy Kubert and Brad Anderson. Kubert’s uncolored artwork will also be available as a variant cover. The duo of Brad Walker and the aforementioned Segala provide an additional variant. At this time, Skybound has also shared three fully-lettered preview pages — in which Cobra Commander orders his troops to search the town of Springfield for a mysterious intruder.

An official synopsis for the issue reads as follows: “Dawn Moreno is confronted by a shocking betrayal in Springfield, while her ‘Joe allies discover that dead doesn’t mean dead when it comes to Cobra‘s newest weapon. And what is Serpentor Khan’s true plan?”

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero lives on at Image Comics

The IDW Publishing era of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero came to an end with issue #300 in November 2022. The Image/Skybound era kicked off in November 2023 with issue #301 by Hama and Mooneyham. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #302 and #303 followed suit in December 2023 and January 2024, respectively, with issue #304 arriving this month. Following next month’s issue #305, May’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #306 will see guest artist Paul Pelletier fill in for Mooneyham.

Of course, continuing with A Real American Hero isn’t the only thing Skybound has done since acquiring the publishing rights to G.I. Joe last year. The studio has also begun introducing the franchise’s characters to the Energon Universe — a shared universe that also includes fellow Hasbro property Transformers and the Skybound-original Void Rivals.

As it stands, Image and Skybound plan to publish four G.I. Joe limited series as part of the EU. The first, Duke, launched in December 2023. The second, Cobra Commander, kicked off in January. Coincidentally, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #305 arrives the exact same day as Cobra Commander #3.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #305 goes on sale Wednesday, March 20 from Image Comics.
